It Is Possible to Feel Better

Dr. Chris Santangelo is a Board-Certified Psychiatrist in private practice and serves on the faculty of Georgetown University’s School of Medicine. His primary focus is in the field of psychopharmacology, a specialty that allows him to help people in need determine whether medication can be a safe and helpful treatment for that which ails them. He has been named a “Top Doctor” by the Washingtonian Magazine on several occasions.

My office is in Dupont Circle, a short walk from the Red Line’s Dupont Circle Metro exit. The address is 2000 P St. NW, Suite 601, Washington, DC 20036. Street parking can be challenging at times, so it is best to allow an extra 10-15 minutes if you are driving. To make an appointment, feel free to contact me via email at

Dr. Chris Santangelo graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Rochester in 2000 with a degree in Biology. He then attended the University of Buffalo’s School of Medicine before doing his Psychiatry residency training at Georgetown University Hospital. He served as the Chief Resident at Georgetown in 2003.

He remained at Georgetown and served as the Assistant Medical Director for the Inpatient Psychiatry Unit and the Psychiatric Partial Hospitalization Program for three years. During that time, he also saw patients in the Psychopharmacology clinic. He is now working full-time at his private practice office in Dupont Circle, but continues to teach medical students at Georgetown University as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry.

Dr. Santangelo is certified through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is a member of both the American Medical Association and the American Psychiatric Association.
